Sundance 5k

CAMP Rehoboth and Seashore Striders announce the formation of the inaugural “Sundance 5k: Run, Walk or Sashay!” To be held on Sunday, August 29th, the event will start and finish in front of the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center on Baltimore Avenue in beautiful downtown Rehoboth.

The 5k run will serve as the official kick-off to ‘Sundance Week,’ CAMP Rehoboth’s annual Labor Day Weekend benefit. It will also feature a 1-mile “FUN” walk, where creativity and costumes are encouraged as prizes will be awarded in several categories.

Prizes will also be given to the top ‘Overall’ finishers, as well as the top three finishers in nine age groups. Whether you’re a serious runner, a power walker, or want to dress like a diva and sashay away, there will be something for everyone.

Celebrating its 20th Anniversary this year, CAMP Rehoboth is a 501(c)(3), nonprofit community service organization dedicated to creating a more positive environment in Rehoboth Beach and its surrounding communities. Its mission is to promote cooperation and understanding among all people, while working to build safe, inclusive communities with ‘room for all.’

Pre-registration is $20 and runs through August 22. After that, general registration is $25. $25 5k August 21st - on race day.  Race Day registration from 6:00 – 7:15 am at Camp Rehoboth for both the 5 K and 1 Mile walk (or Sashay)

Sleepwalker Registration Option: If you'd rather dream about running, $25 to stay in bed, no sweat and contribute to the good work of CAMP Rehoboth Community Center.

Schedule:

6:00 – 7:15 am packet pickup/race day registration, 7:30 start of 5K, 8:00 after party, 9-ish Awards ( Advance packet pickup on the day prior, August 28, at the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center from 4:00 – 6:00 PM).

 

Awards:

Top overall finishers, Masters, and top three in 10 year age groups from 9 &U - 70 &O.

 

Amenities:

Performance T-shirts guaranteed to the first 200 Pre-Registered runners only (or while supplies last), plenty of food, refreshments, & running fun! 

 

Results:

Computerized timing, results will also be available on site and on our website http://www.seashorestriders.com

Parking:

Free parking race morning until 10 AM.  After 10 AM pay meters and in the non-metered areas where a parking permit is required daily. Please arrive early as Rehoboth traffic is heavy in summer.

What time does the race begin?

On-site registration and packet pick-up will begin at 6:00 AM through 7:15 AM. The 5k race will begin promptly at 7:30 AM. The 1 mile fun walk will begin shortly after, at 7:35 AM.

Participants may also pick up their race packets the day prior, August 28, at the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center from 4:00 – 6:00 PM.

How much does it cost to participate?

$20 - pre-registration postmarked by Saturday August 21st

What is the race course?

The course is considered an “out-and-back” course. The scenic race course will begin in front of the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center on Baltimore Avenue in beautiful downtown Rehoboth Beach. Runners will continue through town, crossing Lake Gerar, and head north toward Camp Henlopen State Park. Just prior to the park entrance, runners will turn around and follow the same route back into town. The finish line will be in front of CAMP Rehoboth where the race began. Will the race be held rain or shine?

Yes, the race will be held rain or shine.

Will prizes be awarded?

Prizes will be given to the top ‘Overall’ finishers, as well as the top three finishers in nine age groups. Because creativity is encouraged, prizes will be also be awarded in several categories to participants who come in costume! Prizes will be awarded following the race, at approximately 9:00 AM.

Will t-shirts be provided to participants?

T-shirts will be provided to the first 300 registrants. But these aren't your run-of-the-mill cotton tees. The official Sundance 5k t-shirt will be made from special athletic performance material. So register early while supplies last!

Will food and refreshments be provided?

Yes, a water station will be provided half-way through the race course, and refreshments will be provided in the courtyard next to the CAMP Rehoboth Community Center following the race.

Will parking be available for race participants?

Free street parking will be available race morning until 10 AM. After 10 AM pay meters and in the non-metered areas where a parking permit is required daily. Please arrive early as Rehoboth traffic is heavy in the summer.
