NEW POST 2/12...Valentines Couples 5k has been postponed to Sunday February 28th, 2010
Saturday the 27th conflicted with the Dover Valentines Run as well as several events locally at the shore. The Seashore Striders realize that it will not suit everyone and we will forfeit our possible make-up day, but Sunday the 28th is the better day to have this event. We regret to announce that the 2010 Valentines 5k Couples Run has been postponed to February 28th due to the two snow storms the Cape Region has been hit with in the past week. Both storms brought blizzard conditions with accompanying heavy snowfall, high winds and rough surf.
The bike trails currently have near 30 inches of snow on them, while the ice covered roads are not safe to run on. The decision was made first and foremost with the safety of our runners, volunteers and spectators in mind.
The decision was made with input from the SS event team, as well as Pat Cooper of Cape State Park, and the Sussex County Emergency Response Team.
All event times remain the same with a 10 am start from the fishing pier of Cape State Park.
Thank You for your cooperation in this matter and we hope to see you on the starting line on the 28th to kick off the new 6-pack trail series.
