JOIN THE TOWN OF WYOMING & THE SEASHORE STRIDERS FOR ONE OF THE FIVE OLDEST ROAD RACES IN THE STATE OF DELAWARE...

  • SEASHORE STRIDER UPDATE...10:00am EST

  • The outcome of the Safety meeting this am is that we are going to move the event back 24 hours to Sunday, July 19th at 8:00 am at the same location.   As your RD I have spent several hours gathering data on the air quality, speaking to several meteorologist friends of mine, organizers, police, fire and DelDot and it is in your best interest for us to move it back to Sunday.

  • The warning's expire on Saturday night and on Sunday morning it is predicted to be much cooler (74 degrees) at the start time and air quality down to 79-82 (yellow) much lower than today in Camden where it is "very unhealthy" at 230.  I am also trying to follow RRCA Guidelines for "Safe Running & Racing".

  • I know anytime there is a change it is never going to please everyone, but we feel this is in the best interest of the event and the safety of our participants which are 74% in the 40+ & u18 categories.

  • You also know your health issues and body better than anyone, so of course if you have asthma or COPD or other issues please make the correct safe decision.

  • With the above said...you have some options:

  • you could do nothing and we will see you Sunday in your registered event.
  • you could drop to the 5k to cut down on the exposed time you are participating in the event
    • If you plan to drop from the 10k to the 5k, please e-mail me at [email protected] before the Saturday night "switch deadline" of 10pm.
    • If you get to the event Sunday and are having any second thoughts of the 10k, please let me know by 7:00am at the timing van.
    • There will be NO switching after 7:00 am on race day.
  • you could defer to next year 2027
  • you could donate your entry to the cause & the scholarship
  • lastly, you could defer to a future SS "owned" event before the end of 2026.
  • If you purchased the event insurance through RSU you will go through the 3rd party to get your refund if desired.

  • The event or the SS will not give refunds as noted on the event page...
