IN THE SPOTLIGHT
The Athlete by Vernon Powell has long been a supporter of the running community in the Rehoboth Beach area. Since the origin of the Seashore Striders and the Grove Park Run/Walk Club, this family-owned business has rewarded club members with discounts on athletic footwear, apparel, and accessories. Beginning in 2008, The Athlete by Vernon Powell became a Seashore Strider Racing Series sponsor and, as such, has donated new running shoes to both the male and the female winners in randomly selected age groups for each of the 13 series races. Furthermore, The Athlete has long been the race sponsor for the very unique Women’s Festival 5K held each July. For this women-only race, the store awards gift certificates, prizes, and giveaways to the top 10 female runners. The Athlete by Vernon Powell is proud of its association with the Seashore Strider Racing Series and welcomes the opportunity to continue serving the beach area’s athletes.
