VALENTINES DAY COUPLES 5K RUN

Cape Henlopen State Park; Lewes, Delaware; February 14, 2009

Conditions: Sunny, Breezy, with 40 degree temps

Pulses quicken, heartbeats soar at Valentine’s 5K

The annual Valentines Day Couples 5K was held Saturday, Feb. 14, at Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes. Runners raced from the fishing pier to the Great Dune on the 3.1-mile course.

Jim Smiley won his first Strider event in a time of 18:22, while Susan Dunn ran her normal 21:52 to win the female title. Mike Reph ran 19:59, while Linda Reck ran 23:25 to capture master titles. Several runners teamed up with friends, partners and loved ones to compete in the couples team category with male, female and co-ed top teams presented with custom wood hearts as awards.
