Hello MultiSport Athletes,

I unfortunately am the bearer of bad news...the 2010 Rehoboth Main Street Aquathlon has been canceled. As a race director, this is one of the top five un-fun things to do, and the first ever for Bricks MultiSport.

After countless hours of preparation, and the additional hours of careful scrutiny and conversations with the town officials, police department, etc., the joint decision has finally been made that the event would not be able to be held this year. 

This decision had to be made due to many critical issues; not the least of which, the impending hurricane and its aftermath. While the possibility is still there that the hurricane weather may not hit us directly, and the swim might be possible for an experienced athlete to navigate, we still have the major issue of the condition of the entire landscape of the beach, boardwalk, etc., which will most likely be un-passable for medical personnel & police, as well as for the athletes.  For these reasons, we were told that we would not have access to medical & police personnel. So, after much deliberation, we felt it prudent, for the safety of all involved, to cancel the event now so as to give you as much time as possible to change your weekend plans, etc.

As per the registration agreement, we are unable to offer refunds as we are already so close to the event. However we have made the decision to offer a deferred entry into the 2011 race, which is scheduled to be held the same weekend next year. Please let us know of your interest in this and we will contact you directly with instructions on how to re-register when the event goes online again at the end of this year.

Losing the 2010 Rehoboth Main Street Aquathlon to Earl is a big disappointment for us all. Obviously safety comes first, but still, we wanted to race!
